Which class is best for me?
If you have never done any yoga before, check out the following classes:
Tuesday: 7:45pm Basic at Jaya Park Slope
Wednesday: 7:00pm Deep Rest at Jaya East
Thursday: 6:15pm Basic at Jaya Park Slope
Saturday: 5:30pm Basic at Jaya East
Sunday: 5:30pm Gentle Yoga at Jaya East
Sunday: 6:00pm Restore & Rejuvenate at Jaya Park Slope
If none of the above times work for you, come to ANY BASIC CLASS on the schedule and tell the teacher you are new to yoga.
Also, keep an eye out for our beginner series workshops, offered throughout the year at both studios. These workshops are designed for absolute beginners to yoga and will give you a solid foundation for your practice.
What should I wear?
Anything you are comfortable moving around in (sweat pants and t-shirts are fine, but be sure the clothes are not too baggy). You will be removing your shoes, so no special footwear is needed.
Do I need to bring a yoga mat?
No, we provide yoga mats and all props, free of charge! Do bring a water bottle with you that you can refill at either studio.
What if I have an injury but I am not totally incapacitated and want to try yoga anyway?
Always communicate to your teacher any injuries so s/he can help you with modifications for a safe practice. And we highly recommend that you start with Gentle Yoga at 5:30pm on Sundays at Jaya Yoga East.
