Which class is best for me?
If you have never done any yoga before, check out the following classes:
Thursday, 6:15 pm, Basic/Beginner, Jaya Slope
Tuesday, 5:30 pm, Basic, Jaya East
Sunday, 3:00 pm (every other Sunday), Gentle Yoga, Jaya Yoga East
Also keep an eye out for our beginnger series offered throughout the year on the weekends and weekdays, as well as our introduction to yoga classes offered free throughout the year.
If none of the above times work for you, come to ANY BASIC CLASS on the schedule and tell the teacher you are new. We will pay you special attention and make sure that you take things slowly.
What should I wear?
Anything you are comfortable moving around in. As well as cloths that are not to too baggy otherwise your teachers will not really be able to see what you are doing under all the fabric.
Do I need to bring a yoga mat?
No, we have all the yoga mats and blocks and blanks and straps and eye pillows you will need during your class, free of charge. You will need to bring water as we do not sell it at the studio because back in February ‘08 the focus of the month at the center was “Love Your Planet,” we decided the best way for us to do that would be to not sell water bottled in plastic any longer.
What if I have an injury but I am not totally incapacitated and want to try yoga anyway?
You have to communicate that kind of information your teacher. All the teachers at Jaya are professional and will be able to help you once you let them know what is going on with your body. And stick to the basic classes first so you can learn to work with your body in a healthy way.
