class descriptions
Basic
Designed for those who are new to yoga, or anyone who wishes to ease into fundamental asanas, and pranayama, as they are carefully introduced. Also, check out the For Beginners page for more information about starting your practice.
Basic/Beginner
Designed for the student who is new to Jaya. You will learn principles of alignment, breath and mindfulness at an easy going pace.
Intermediate
This level of practice is meant to be a bridge between the basic and open level. So, if you have well advanced in your basic level class and are curious about the open classes but think it a daunting idea to just jump into the open level try this first.
Open
Energizing postures that develop strength and flexibility are combined with coordinated breath and movement (vinyasa) to release tensions held in the body. This class is not for beginners you should have at least 9 months experience.
All Levels
Basic level students will find appropriate modifications and more advanced students will find a mindful challenge. All levels are welcome!
Flow and Restore
Flowing and warming vinyasa followed by restorative poses. YUM!
Restorative
Restorative aka Deep Relaxation, focuses on how the yin (receptive) qualities of the poses can be tapped to induce deeper states of rest and relaxation. This class has one sole aim: deep mindful rest. You will be exposed to a combination of restorative yoga poses for an extended period of time (using props to provide physical support). Breath observation and guided meditation exercises are also included. Taken as a whole, these techniques are used to usher your mind, body, and spirit into a state of deep internal awareness where we may let go of our hardened and habitual daily reactions in the body (samskaras). This is a great class if you wish to reduce stress in your daily life.
Gentle Yoga
For those of you who need to take it easy for any number of reasons, this is the class for you. Physical limitations come in a variety of forms (arthritis, recovering from injury, high blood pressure, cancer treatment…) the list is seemingly endless. This does not mean you can not practice yoga postures, breathing exercise and meditation. Gentle Yoga affords you what you need, a little more time and a lot of physical options. Please participate in this special offering.

The sittings are non-directive. Please come bring your practice, sit with us. If you are new to meditation just let the time keeper know and she /he will give you a basic practice to start you off. FREE FREE FREE.
