For Beginners
"I signed up for the beginner's workshop at Jaya Yoga because it was offered at 2 p.m. on Sundays and I didn't think I'd be able to lazy my way out of that time slot. I'd taken a few yoga classes before, but I just never got it before this workshop. At Jaya, I finally understood why people practice yoga. I took the beginner's class; she was funny, straight forward, and made yoga inspiring and engaging without being intimidating. I stand up straighter and have better balance, and I'm more aware of my how my body moves and can move. I'm looking forward to coming back for more workshops and classes."—A graduate of the 6-week beginners series

Then we suggest your taking our basic level classes so you can begin to use your amazing body in a yogic way, with a lot of attention to how your bones and joints line up with each other and the earth aka alignment. Also, so you can begin to integrate your movement and breath in a smooth easy clear way.
What should I wear?
Cloths you can move freely in. As well as cloths that are not to too baggy otherwise your teachers will not really be able to see what you are doing under all the fabric.
Do I need to bring a yoga mat?
No, we have all the yoga mats and blocks and blanks and straps and eye pillows you will need during your class, free of charge. You will need to bring water as we do not sell it at the studio because back in February '08 the focus of the month at the center was "Love Your Planet," we decided the best way for us to do that would be to not sell water bottled in plastic any longer.
What if I have an injury but I am not totally incapacitate and want to try yoga anyway?
You have to communicate that kind of information your teacher. All the teachers at Jaya are professional and will be able to help you once you let them know what is going on with your body. And stick to the basic classes first so you can learn to work with your body in a healthy way.
